Lebanese students share stories of solidarity and inclusion

UNIC Beirut brought together on 22 March 2017 students and professors from schools and universities in Lebanon in two separate briefings about the TOGETHER initiative. The briefings, held at the UN House in Beirut, witnessed vibrant discussions about the issue of refugees and displaced people, with participants exchanging views and raising their concerns over this matter. 

Jessy Chahine, Media Officer at the UN Human Rights Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, led the two consecutive briefings and highlighted the notion of the initiative and all its aspects. She highlighted major factors that forced refugees and migrants to flee their countries, and stressed the need to straighten out all misconceptions about them by shedding light on the economic, social and cultural contributions they make to the host countries. 

At the end of the sessions, UNIC Beirut requested all participants to draft articles about their perception of the TOGETHER initiative based on success stories they have experienced in their societies. 

UNIC Beirut received 13 articles written by students and posted them on the Centre’s website as well as promoted them on our social media platforms. Below are the links for these articles.
