The United Nations Association in Spain awarded the 37th Peace Prize to Nadia Murad Basee, in recognition of her fight against human trafficking and for the protection of ethnic minorities, specifically the Yazidi ethnic minority. Herself a victim of ISIS violence aginst the Yazidis and a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Ms Murad emphasized the need to continue working towards universal human rights, especially for those voices that go unheard in areas of conflict.
