UNIC Beirut promotes “TOGETHER” on sidelines of ESCWA regional meeting on migration

Tens of participants of UN-ESCWA’s Regional Consultation on International Migration in the Arab Region learned about the UN’s global campaign “TOGETHER” and took photos carrying props with the campaign’s logo at an informative booth set up by UNIC Beirut on the sidelines of the meeting that was held end of September.

The booth was manned by UNIC Beirut staff who raised banners, took photos of participants who posted them on their social media accounts with the campaign’s hashtag, and aired audiovisual material on the campaign, launched by the Secretary-General in 2016 to promote respect, safety and dignity for refugees and migrants. UNIC Beirut also briefed participants about “TOGETHER” and distributed game books depicting the campaign in the form of crosswords puzzles, riddles and games targeting youth.

The activity aimed to raise awareness of “TOGETHER”, its values and goals, and how to contribute to  the campaign.

Among the high-ranking officials who visited the booth were UN Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim, UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Coordinator for Lebanon Ms. Sigrid Kaag, IOM Director General Mr. William Lacy Swing and UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon Mr. Philippe Lazzarini. Other visitors included ambassadors of Arab and Western countries, government representatives, civil society, media and experts attending the meeting.
